Looking for a special breakfast for your sweetie? Why not give the Sweetheart Pancake a try?

Step 1: Start with your favorite pancake batter, red food coloring, spatula, griddle, and condiment bottle (you really need two of these, though you can make one work like I did. I found my bottle at Walmart for about $1…so why didn’t I get two you ask? I have no idea).

Step 2:Add a few drops of food coloring to a small amount of your pancake batter until you get your desired color. Make sure you mix well so the color is uniform.  Put your pancake batter inside your condiment bottle.  (tip: I had to cut the top of my condiment bottle to create a larger hole so my lumpy batter could get through)

Step 3: Squeeze your batter onto the griddle, being sure to create a mirror image of your phrase. This is very important, see what happens when you forget here.

Step 4: If you are fortunate enough to have two condiment bottles you can skip this step. If not, join me in the extra step club. Once your pancake letters have set a little you can slide them around without messing them up. Slide your letters off the griddle and onto a plate so they don’t become too brown as you clean your bottle. Thoroughly clean the bottle and place your regular batter (without the food coloring) inside.

Step 5: Use your pancake batter to fill in the space around your letters. Work as quickly as possible.

Step 6: When the batter around your letters has set,  carefully flip your Sweetheart pancake.

Step 7: Enjoy! I mean, give it to your sweetie to enjoy!

Regular pancakes…eat your heart out.
